How to reduce waste in our kitchens?

When it comes to our kitchens, the first thing that comes to our mind is a convenience. How can we get in-and-out as fast as possible? With our culture of fast and convenience, we have totally forgotten about environmental consciousness. Put them together and we get conscious convenience. Remember that whatever we purchase will eventually end up somewhere, whether it is in the landfill, our bellies, or even in our cupboards pilling up and creating a mess.

Yes, convenience should be in our minds but so should consciousness of consumption. When we are conscious of the environment, we tend to add less to our homes and only purchase sustainable products. Over time, this lead to cost savings.

We can do simple acts of kindness for this earth that can result in huge impacts. For example, changing our lights in our houses to LED (energy efficient) thus saving money and the earth together. Another thing we can do is be conscious of the amount of water we use. Check out our IGTV on Instagram @also_sophia where we spoke about how to use water barrels that collect rainwater to water our plants and clean the floors. When it comes to buying items for our kitchen we should ALWAYS say no to plastic, but if we must buy plastic, then those plastic items that are durable and will last a longer time. Say bye-bye to single-use plastics and aim towards a zero plastic route as even our best quality plastics can leach harmful chemicals and toxins overtime as plastics degrade.
